We want more!

They belong to a new generation: young people with disabilities who have grown up in an inclusive environment and dream of real work and participation. They do not want to work in workshops, as society has expected of people with disabilities for decades. While they fight for their future, others struggle for reform of the workshops. They all want more.

As a narrative investigation, WE WANT MORE: WORK WITHOUT BARRIERS shows a society that, 16 years after the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities came into force on March 26, 2009, promises inclusion but still excludes people with disabilities. A system of special structures, bureaucracy, and prejudice forces them to fight for their right to work, self-determination, and participation. It becomes clear how valuable work is to our lives and why inclusion must not remain an issue only for people with disabilities, but must be a task for society as a whole in a democracy.
